Wireless PCI adapter not recognized

I have just installed Mandrake 9.1 on my laptop but I haven't been able to setup my wireless internet because I don't think it recognizes my Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B PCI Adapter. What can I do at this point? Thanks for any response.

I'm not familiar with this one, what's the output of:

/sbin/lspci

as regards to the Ethernet Controller?

I will buy a Travelmate 800 notebook and a functional wireless lan card is important for me.

Nada, there's still no support for the Intel 2100 wireless chipset that's just another chunk of the Centrino platform. Intel is promising to get around to it, my ballpark is at least six months if the i830 vid chipset was any good indicator. Werner from www.tuxmobil.com has a good writeup on the current state of the Centrino based platforms under Linux.
