Wireless Networking Problem - Long Read

Before I discuss my problem let me let you know what I’m using. (Or read problem and refer to information below)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have Standard HP Pavilion 7920. From this site HP Pavilion 7920 I’m shown my computer does support Linux and other information you may need (probably wont) is on this site.

I have 3 computers Ill label them as A, B and C.
· Computer A runs off of Windows XP and is connected to the internet through a Toshiba Cable Modem. This is the computer with the Main Router.
· Computer B well that doesn’t matter its not really important.
· Computer C is mine. It is the HP Pavilion (refer to top). This computer has the 802.11b Router, which is plugged in, through a USB port. Note: When I had Windows XP the Internet worked.

Computer C now has Red Hat 9 installed (d/l from Linuxiso.org).
Also an extra modification I made to Computer C was by installing (I guess you can call it installing) a Model WG311T Wireless PCI Adapter (all I did was put it in the computer no extra stuff * I’m new to installing hardware not sure if that’s all I needed to do.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok so now that you know what I’m running on here is the problem.

I boot up Red Hat and try to get on the Internet but it doesn’t work. It always hangs there and says Resolving Host: Http://whateversite.com . Then says it couldn’t find it.

I’ve been through a lot of text “help guides” and “installation guides” etc.. and downloaded dozens of files that were supposed to do stuff, however I never manage to install them correctly or understand what I’ve read. I’m a newbie, and when I say newbie I don’t mean general knowledge. Just a few days ago I didn’t even know Linux was an iso (just kidding, just showing how new I am.)

Additional Information: I would post certain things I’ve picked up along my reading like what it says for “iwconfig”, but basically they are no help. My computer doesn’t recognize that I have any Internet connection up. Also "eth0” shows no connection either, I’ve tried dozens of network configurations but they don’t work (I probably did it wrong anyways.)

So I’m posting this for someone to please help me. I’m at the very end of my patients my head has hurt for days, my eyes kill and I’m getting sick of reading and reading and not understanding or getting anywhere. I need some help, not just a link to a file or another document. I need to be guided. If you’re up to the challenge I would greatly appreciate it.

If I was not clear on my problem, please ask away, if your searching for information remember I’m a newbie to the newbies. So please explain how I find it (like what commands, where to look, what to look for).

Also if you know what I need to do, helping me solve it through other means than this post would be helpful and faster. My AOL Instant Messenger Screen Name is “Palmer 185” I usually leave myself as “away” so leave a message and I’ll add you and contact you when your on.

Thanks A lot.
