Wireless network in Ubuntu in WM7

Hello! I'm a 1st time user of linux and don't really know much about it so sorry if my question is not appropriate or something like that. Anyway, I installed ubuntu on Virtual machine workstation and vm is installed on vista. My problem is related to connecting to wireless networks trough ubuntu. I don't know how to see them. I am connected to the internet if I set VM network setting to NAT, on VMnet0 (auto-bridging) but I cannot see wireless networks even so. Can anyone help a linuxnoob out? thx

VMs have never been my thing, but it seems that if you wanted to connect to a wireless network for Internet access, you would connect with the host OS and just NAT that over to the guest OS. I understand some VMs have the ability to map a hardware NIC to a virtual NIC under the guest OS, though I don't know how well that works for WiFi devices.

Is there some reason you are trying to connect the guest OS directly to a wireless network?

I see... well, I wanted to know how to connect to a wireless network without knowing the password and I only found methonds using linux
