Wireless network does not appear in list and was working the other day.
 

Hello,

I'm having connectivity issues using a WIFI dongle and Centos7. I have been using this configuration without issue for 2-3 months. Yesterday, my ISP changed some settings involving my modem / router and now the network is no longer appearing in the list of networks that I can connect to wirelessly.

All the other networks appear and the dongle can transmit as a wifi hotspot. The network still appears on the list of "known networks" but I cannot access it using the "connect to hidden network" function or by selecting it from the list as I did before. Tried the nmcli functions and my network won't show up in the terminal. Tried nmcli --ask dev wifi connect wifinetworkname and there's no SSID?

I have not been using linux for a long time and would appreciate any help!

At first glance, and in the absence of all evidence, this sounds like the ISP misconfigured your access device. Not a problem at your Linux node, but a network issue the ISP created. Have you called them?

Yes, two windows laptops and cel phones are able to connect.

What wireless protocols do your dongle support? If it's an older NIC the it's possible your ISP's router is incompatible. Tell them to enable a/b/g or possibly n protocols. I had the same problem a few years ago. It's also possible that your dongle runs on the 2.4Ghz frequency and the dummy technician only enabled 5Ghz band.

Really this all guess work at this point because you haven't posted any information about your dongle or wireless router.

It could be as simple as removing the access point from the list of known networks, then reconnect.

Router is a Cisco DPC3848
Dongle is a Zonet ZEW2590 802.11n High Gain USB Adapter

You solved it! Enabled 2.4 ghz in the settings for the router in the 192 menu. Thank you so much!!
