Wireless Network Connection Dropping

I run FC4 on an IBM T23 notebook and use a wireless PCMCIA card.

The computer picks up the network (fixed IP and SSID) on boot, but after several minutes, loses the network. All APM and ACPI are turned off in grub.conf and there is no BIOS-level power management.

I can bring the network back up by issuing 'ifup eth1'. Is there a way I can stop it from losing the network in the first place?

Thanks in advance
