Question Wireless: Netgear MA 301 and MA401

I have the following problem:
I have installed a Netgear MA301 Wireless Card on my Desktop, but I can't bring it to work under SuSE 8.2, although Linux recognises the card correctly. But I can't ping it! It tells me that the network service is unavailable. ESSID and Encryption key are correct. Access Point correctly configured as well, because it works under windows!

Same thing with the MA401 itself. I can't bring it to work under Knoppix 3.2 on my laptop (linux not yet installed there, therefore only knoppix live-cd)

In short: help!
