Wireless + Mepis

Hi there, I have been trying for a few days now to get my sitecom wl121 wifi card working with simplyMepis. i have used ndiswrapper to install my winXP (wlanCIG.inf) driver for it but mepis still doesnt recognise the card. when i run ndiswrapper -l i get:

Installed ndis drivers:
airplus driver present
lsbcmnds driver present
lstinds driver present
mrv8k51 driver present
netr33x driver present
prismnic driver present
wlancig driver present, hardware present
wlanuig driver present, hardware present
wlipnds driver present

i belive that the chipset is Intersil Corporation ISL3886 chipset, or thats what it says i have connected to my pci slot. any suggestions on how to get it working would be much appreciated.

modprobe ndiswrapper
iwconfig
iwconfig wlan0 essid "YourEssidHere"
iwconfig wlan0 enc YourKeyHere
dhcpcd wlan0

<<<-----commands need to be done as root. wlan0 is replaced with what ever is listed in iwconfig (ie ath0 wlan0 ...etc)

i formatted my hdd yesterday and can no longer install my wlanCIG driver with ndiswrapper. my ndiswrapper output is now:

Installed ndis drivers:
airplus driver present
lsbcmnds driver present
lstinds driver present
mrv8k51 driver present
netr33x driver present
prismnic driver present
wlancig invalid driver!
wlanuig driver present, hardware present
wlipnds driver present

i tried what was said below and my iwconfig output is:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

also what is an essid? is this the name of the network i will be connecting to?
