First off, I'm not a noob. So this shouldn't be offensive to the more experiences Linux users... It should be on par.
1) I have a wireless network card: Intersil Corporation Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset
2) It uses the modules: orinoco, and orinoco_pci
3) Here is the log related to the modules:
Code:
orinoco.c 0.13e (David Gibson <hermes@gibson.dropbear.id.au> and others)
orinoco_pci.c 0.13e (David Gibson <hermes@gibson.dropbear.id.au> & Jean Tourrilhes <jt@hpl.hp.com>)
ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:0f.0[A] -> GSI 12 (level, low) -> IRQ 12
Detected Orinoco/Prism2 PCI device at 0000:00:0f.0, mem:0xDFCFF000 to 0xDFCFFFFF -> 0xce946000, irq:12
Reset done...................................................................................................................$Clear Reset..................................................................................................................$pci_cor : reg = 0xB8C - FFFBF583 - FFFBF38F
hermes @ MEM 0xce946000: Timeout waiting for card to reset (reg=0x0000)!
eth1: failed to initialize firmware (err = -110)
eth1: Failed to register net device
orinoco_pci: probe of 0000:00:0f.0 failed with error -110
4) My issue: I don't know how to go about upgrading the firmware so that the modules don't have a problem "waiting for the card to reset."
I hope that this information helps, I'll continue my research-- So far I have come close to recompiling the kernel, but then I'm unaware of where to obtain the firmware and how to go about installing it into my kernel.. blah blah blah.
Thank you for your help!
