Wireless EDGE/GPRS Compat question?

I'm thinking about getting a 3G card and I can see there are quite a few post about this, so I think I'm on the right category. Anyway, I'm using Nokia 6620 phone, currently w/o any highspeed internet, and I see that it support EDGE also. Front page said EDGE, but feature page support GSM/EDGE/GPRS 850/1800/1900 MHz, or maybe just voice.

What are the difference between EDGE/GPRS in the nutshell and I'm thinking what is the best way to connect to the internet? What I mean by that is, the most compatible(to the linux), reliably(not too slow) and inexpensively. Should I buy the 3G card from Cingular, about $200 or try to get my Nokia 6620 to become a modem via bluetooth? Also can somebody point me to some good article about this. So, what is the tradeoff, if I'm doing this instead of using the real PCMCIA card.

Super Thanks,
