wireless does not connect

I have a laptop with a linux, pxlinuxos, partition and a WindowsXP. I can make a wireless connection with Windows but not with linux. I have tried other linux distributions and they don't work either.

My router is netgear wgr614. wlassistant does not detect a signal. When I configure for wireless, the computer detects my card: wlan0: AirVast Taiwan |IEEE 802.11b PRISM3 USB. It recommends the driver: wlan0 (driver prism2_usb). Then nothing happens.

How can I make it work?

Is your Device detected when you modprobe the Driver?
Do you get any errormessages?
Is your problem when startin up then network?
Did you check your logs?

I used locate to find prism2_usb. The only thing that I found was in lib/modules/... , a single entry that ended with ko.gz. I then used gunsip and had prism2_usb.ko. At this point, I have no idea what to do.
