Wireless DHCP configuration
 

Hi all...
Here's another wireless question for you...
I go to 'applications->system settings -> network' to configure my integrated wireless card. I click 'new' and go through the whole process, making sure that the radio button for obtaining ip configuration through dhcp is selected, and get all the wireless info in correctly and click ok. At this point, i click 'activate' and this is the message i get back:

Determining IP information for eth1:2...
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Cannot assign requested address
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Cannot assign requested address
failed.

I then thought there might be something messed up with the information i put into it for the dns server, or dhcp server, so i highlited the proper one and clicked 'edit'. I noticed that the radio button and all the corresponding fields for "automatically obtain ip settings with 'dhcp''' has been greyed out and the one for setting a static IP is selected. I can fill in everything and get it to work with a static IP, but in no way will it let me select the dhcp option. It appears to making the 'static IP' option be my only choice.

I have no idea what's going on. If anyone can provide any insight into what might be causing this, and how I can go about fixing it. I don't know if I have to change a .conf file or what, but i'm getting frustrated. Thanks a lot for all your help!

Hello Tim,

I'm guessing you're using Fedora Core 2 or 3 - if you have a moment to fill out your decription on the left it will help. The best thing to do at the times is to bypass the GUI stuff and use the command line. If you can post back the make and chipset of your card (lspci will give you the latter) as well as the outputs from iwconfig and ifconfig this will also help a big deal.
