Wireless connection between AP and Router
Ok this is not really a linux question more a general networking question, but I hope the good people here will be able to help me.
I just purchased a Wireless Access Point (Netgear WG602 v2), to go along with my wireless router (Netgear WGR614). No I have looked through the instructions included but it only seems to deal with connecting device to the AP. I also briefly googled but with no luck. What I would like to do is connect my AP to my Router wirelessly. I sort of need the AP to act like a bridge for my xbox. Basically what I am aiming for is to connect my xbox to the AP then use the AP to connect to my router which is located in another room. What i have read is that I will need another AP directly connected to the router to perform the bridging? This should be rather simple I think but I am getting damn confused and seem to be going in circles. |
I think you've got things a touch goofed up. If you already have a wireless router, you don't really need an access point. If I understand your post correctly, you want to be able to connect your xbox wirelessly to your router. If that is the case, you need a wireless card for your xbox, not an access point. I don't have an xbox so I can't make any recommendations on a suitable card, but I imagine a bit of googling should bring up some options.

You want a wireless Ethernet adapter. Linksys, Netgear, ZyXEL, Buffalo, et al all make a wireless gaming adapter that will bridge your X-Box to the router.
