Wireless Card - SMC 2602

My network card is an SMC 2602, which is a SMC 2632 PCMCIA card on a PCI board with a PLX chip.

I had this running using only the PLX drivers from the WLAN project, however, it stopped working--perhaps the driver, perhaps the card.

But I was wondering, do I have to enable PCMCIA support and do I have to compile the PCMCIA module from the WLAN software to get this to work?

Everyone's help is appreciated....

Need more info

I have used Mandrake 8.1 kerenl 2.4.10 and was able to get my lucent wireless card to work.
when you do a ifconfig does it show up? are you manually config' your ESSID and WEP keys. Did you try and use the Kornico app, this really makes configuration among different AP's better. when you do dmesg, does it fail to recognize the card?

Let us know, ill try to stay posted and give my assistance...

I am using the WLAN driver set. The card shows up--if I do a dmesg it tells me correctly that it has found a Prism2/PLX device and that a PCMCIA device was found (it's on the PCI card)

I run ifconfig ... up and if I do ifconfig -a the card is there

The problem seems to come issuing the wlanctl-ng commands--
I first get a time-out error of some kind and then messages warning of dropped frames because the device is not associated yet (but it appears to be)

subsequent route commands set the route and the gateway, but a ping to the router/access point does not work...
