Wireless card detection

Hi,

I've 2 different versions of the kernel on my system that i can choose with grub:
2.6.4.52
2.6.12.2

When I boot on the 2.6.4.52 there is no problem to detect the wireless card. However, when I boot on the upgraded version 2.6.12.2 YAST can t detect the wireless card.

But when I compiled the new kernel I put the same configuration options than in the old one. Besides the good firmware is well installed.

I would like to know if the fact to have 2 versions of kernel on the same system is a problem? There are common files between the 2 versions? There is a problem with the loadings of the modules during the booting of the system?

If someone has some ideas it would be nice because I spent a lot of time on this problem.

Pit

I have 2 kernels installed with no problems. Shouldn't make a difference.

My wireless card is a BG 2200 and I am running 2.6.10 on my laptop. I tried to upgrade to 2.6.12 but wasn't able to do so. As I recall it was necessary to upgrade the firmware to be compatible with the new driver (if you havn't already done so) and at that time the firmware was not available. Some time ago now.

Hope this helps.

Chesh.
