Wireless card connects to AP but only is using IPv6

I have a Realtek 8185 802.11g PC card in an old laptop running debian sarge with 2.6.8. I finally got it to connect to the access point tonight but it would not access anything on the LAN or the internet. I finally relized that it was using only IPv6 and there is nothing for IPv4 or inet or whatever you wish to call it.

How do I install or enable IPv4 for my wireless card( wlan0 )...help...

Are you sure it's actually connecting? When my wireless card wasn't connecting to anything, it was listed as having an IPv6 address anyway.

Can you ping the wireless access point and ping your wireless card from the access point?

Good luck. I've had a real hard time with wireless on Linux myself.

I'm positive its connecting... I checked the router from my desktop.

Oh. Then I'm sorry, I can't help.
