Win Xp and FC4 Ad hoc not working

Hi,

I've been using FC4 with my wireless mn 520 on my laptop fine with a router at home. But now i'm back in my dorm room and was trying to get my laptop connected to my desktop which is running windows xp through ad hoc. I know the ad hoc works when my laptop is booted into xp (becasue I havea dual boot) but n matter what i do..the status of the wireless device stays inactive..and when i click activate the message goes by to fast for me to see what went wrong.

whast also weird is that my windows xp (on desktop) says its connected after I click activate on my laptop but my laptop doesnt get an ip and says its still searching for the ad hoc (kwifimanager).

thanx in advance
Boomba,
