Wifi (orinoco chipset) stopped working in FC5

I am running Fedora Core 5 with kernel update: kernel-2.6.16-1.2080_FC5. With all updates since, including the latest (2.6.16-1.2122_FC5), my wifi adaptor (D-Link DWL-650) stops working.

In this and other forums, I saw mention of an incompatibility between the orinoco_cs and hostap_cs modules. Anyone heard of a cure to this problem? Is this a bug in kernel setup or my wifi cards has been orphaned?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This bug report describes the problem for orinoco supported cards, and comment#2 describes the workaround. Some folks are still reporting an issue though, so you may want to add yourself as a CC: on the bug if it doesn't work.

Thanks. I added this to file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist:

# Wireless LAN card
blacklist hostap_cs

The wifi interface is now working with the latest kernel.
