Why is my Ralink wifi adapter not switching to monitor mode on Linux Mint 19.1?

When I use airmon-ng start wlan0/1 it doesn't do anything. Also the interface is not Wlan0/1, instead it is wlx00e141008e92 . Even after using airmon-ng start wlx00e141008e92 it doesn't get me any different results.
Could this be a driver problem? The driver installed right now is rt2800usb .
Same problem anyone?

Some information would help. For example

What distro/version are you running?

What is the wireless chipset?

What is the output of ip addr?

This article from the LQ Wiki might provide some useful diagnostics: http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/...l_area_network

Welcome to LQ.

Hi! Thanks for replying. I am using Linux Mint. The chipset/adapter is Ralink RT5370 Wireless Adapter which is made and sold by the brand leoxsys.

What I don't get at all is why is the interface have a 15 character long? Why is it not simply like wlan1, eth1, etc?
I used wireshark to test if it goes into monitor mode. It did work with wireshark without any problem. And wireshark detected the interface as eth0.
