WG311v3 up but not running

Hi Folks,

I am going crazy.
Looking deeper into this Linux staff I bought a Netgear WG311 because several posts mentioned that it should work under linux.
I now realized that I got a v3 with a Marvell chipset and this is the point where my wireless problems started.
I got a WG511 up and running well on my laptop, but on the desktop I am lost.
Here you are my configuration:

a) Fli4l router
b) Sony vaio (Older one but stable)
c) new desktop with the WG311(GR version)

Tried a Knoppix 5.0 and a debian Sarge (r1; Kernel 2.6.??) without success.

Several tries later I got at least the card up and running.
The system looks like this at the moment (beside some more secondary probs):

Code:
ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
wg311v3 driver present, hardware present
Code:
lspci | grep Ethernet
0000:00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88w8335 [Libertas] 802.11b/g Wireless (rev 03)
Code:
iwconfig
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"athome"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:5C:19
          Bit Rate:6 Mb/s Sensitivity=-200 dBm
          RTS thr:2346 B Fragment thr:2346 B
          Encryption key:xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx Security mode:open
          Power Management:off
Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-80 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Code:
ifconfig
wlan0 Protokoll:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 00:00:00:70:B0:B0
          inet Adresse:192.168.0.11 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Maske:255.255.255.0
          inet6 Adresse: fe80::214:6cff:fe71:b9b7/64 Gültigkeitsbereich:Verbindu ng
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          Kollisionen:0 Sendewarteschlangenlänge:1000
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:468 (468.0 b)
          Interrupt:20 Speicher:dffd0000-dffe0000
and the card is not blinking, the green light is just "on".

...looks not so bad but here are my problems:

1. I cannot ping to the local network nor to the net
2. After every reboot I have to reconfigure the card settings
3. the security setting MUST be "open" on "restricted" the essid is lost and reset to off/any

Could someone please give me a hint?
Thanks in advance
Oliver

Hi Folks,

helps!

Unfortunately I did not find something that fits - and answers where rare.
After retrying and retrying without success I tried to get rid of ndiswrapper again.
Seems not to be a valid choice.
Anyway I removed the drivers and everything around wlan0 and started from the beginning.

After realising that the .conf file created from ndiswrapper (without my personal network settings) was read only I changed this and after rebooting I could have contact to my AP and router. Proudly trying to google and - surprise surprise - google presented its home.

It was late last night, so I did not reboot again - looking forward if it is still working then...
