WG311v3.inf cant copy to /sbin/ndiswrapper line 135

okay, I've been searching and haven't seen this problem yet. I'm using SuSE 10.0 and ndiswrapper-1.8. (not sure how to get build version)

I have only used linux for about two weeks now after I lost my winxp cd and decided to try something new so

So far i've only managed to install ndis. When I go to install the driver for Netgear WG311v3 I get the following error msg:

couldn't copy WG311v3.inf at /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper line 135

any help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I am not a programmer, laymen terms please

I've been using Linux about the same amount of time as you, and just set up a similar card yesterday, and got that exact same error.

The error went away when I used the drivers I downloaded from the manufacturer's web site, instead of from the CD included with the card.

My card is actually a TrendNet, but I believe it uses the same chipset as yours.

Incidentally, mine worked perfectly yesterday, but I cannot get it working today -- so I'm sure not pretending to be an expert here!!

start from the top. Please post the following output, which you will type in as root or SU from your terminal or commandline.

ndiswrapper -l
after you've done that, i suspect you need to get your driver from the ndiswrapper website. download a copy to whereever firefox saves it: usually by default it's /home/superbnerb/Desktop (your's will be different, as my user name on my computer is superbnerb, yours is whateverthehell you named your user on your linux box).

do that and we'll continue helping you, or at least i will.
