WEP, ifup not working FC3 w/ WMP54GS

I am running FC3 and trying to get my WMP54GS wireless card working using the ndiswrapper. It does work with some tweaking, but I can't get the ifup script to work with a WEP key.

On boot or from the shell, if I type ifup, the card cannot connect. iwconfig shows no AP, but the WEP key is in place. If I then type iwconfig wlan0 key open, and then iwconfig, my essid magically appears, but this time with no WEP key. Running iwconfig wlan0 key XXXXXXXX works and the card is now fine. How can I change the scripts to set the key to open so that my AP point is detected, and then switch the key back?

Kind of kludgy but I don't care. As a side note, I didn't have any problem in FC2.
