Very slow wifi with Centrino N-130 in LUbuntu

I'm using a Samsung NC110 Netbook with Lubuntu 11.10. The netbook has a Centrino Mobile-N 130 wireless adapter (rev 34). The driver is listed as iwlagn.

The problem is that although it can find and connect to Wifi networks, it has very slow internet access. It takes a long time to connect to a site, and a long time to download data - even email browsing in Thunderbird is painfully slow and times out regularly. If there are better ways to diagnose the problem, then please let me know and I will perform them.

Things to rule out:
- 2 other laptops, one using Linux Mint 10 and one using Windows, both have no problem on the network and are very fast.
- Have tried on several different networks with different enryption setups, the problem exists on all.
- Have tried a range of sites, all very slow including google searches.

I would suspect this is a driver issue, any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Maybe the antenna on the card has disconnected, but probably the driver is to blame.

Apologies for the bump, but still having trouble with this - no amount of updates are making any difference. Can anyone suggest how the driver issues can be circumvented e.g. alternative drivers?
