Using a linux router to put an xbox on a wireless lan

Hello I am pretty new to linux but I can do most basic tasks. I have been experiencing with networking recently and I wanted to apply my knowlegde to a task I thought up on my own.

My friends and I frequently play system link xbox. My friends live in townhouses so sometimes we do what we call a "house link" where we run a 200 ft ethernet cable in between the two (as neither house is large enough for everyone). Needless to say it can be quite a chore to keep it hidden from neighbors, as well as keeping it form being a hazard and rolling up 200 ft of wet ethernet cable after a morning dew can be quite annoying.

One of my friends recently purchased a commerical wireless router and we have found that the signal does reach my other friend's house. Since I have a lot of old computers around I was wondering if it would be possible to set up a linux box to act as a wireless bridge to allow one xbox to connect wirelessly to the router while the other plugs directly into the wireless router via an ethernet port.

I have looked around on the internet and haven't really seen anything explaining how to do this. I have set up a test router on my home network but have only been able ping one way through the router. I guess I'm looking for something where you can ping both ways. Any help or info you have would be greatly appreciated.

i suppose you could, but you can now buy wireless network adaptors for the xbox...

I kno u can buy those, but this would be a heck of a lot cheaper than slamming down $120 per xbox and hopefully what I'm looking for would work for multiple xboxes at once.
