Upgraded kernel on FC2, ndiswrapper stopped working
I am still using FC2, and I recently upgraded the kernel to 2.6.10-1.9_FC2. I had been using 2.6.9-1.3_FC2.
Now, when I boot into the newer kernel, ndiswrapper does not work. There's no mention of ndiswrapper at all in dmesg, and when I type "ndiswrapper -l" I get "driver present, hardware present" for the drivers I have installed. However, if I then type "modprobe ndiswrapper" I get the message "FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found." It feels like the instructions to load ndiswrapper somehow didn't carry over to the new kernel, but I'm pretty much a novice at linux, so I'm not sure how to fix this. Please help? Thanks. |
You must have an ndiswrapper version that matches your kernel version. Reinstalling ndiswrapper should resolve your issue.

So it did, and there was a new version out too, so I needed to anyway, it seems!
Thank you. :) |
No problem. Glad it's working for you now.

i wonder if this will fix my problem. it seems ndiswrapper 1.1 needs to find my kernel source files or something... anyways, i'm gonna go and try 1.2 and see how that goes.
i hope it works . stay tuned.... later. and thanks. |
superbnerb:
All versions of ndiswrapper require kernel sources (well, definitely headers) for compilation (as do all kernel modules). |
