I'm having a problem installing my wireless network card on my laptop. It's the rtl8185, realtek. I downloaded the driver and tried to install it. but it doesn't seem to intall properly... I'm getting alot of errors, when I try and make. Please if anyone can help it would be great.

Oh, and I'm running Mandriva 2007

art...

in my opinion, drivers are still hit-and-miss with linux.

but still, you'll have to post more details if you want help. Have you figured out how to build drivers for your kernel? For example, if you're running debian, you:

1) download the source package for your current kernel
2) download the source for the driver
3) read the README file (or whatever) to find out how to build the driver.

It ain't a science, its an art :)

Thanks... I'm still new to the whole Linux thing... I'm running Mandriva 2007. I've got the source code for the drivers, not sure about the kernel though. I try to build, by running the make command, and I get an error.

Check if you have the kernel source and mod-init-tools packages installed.

There may also be a README file in the source outlining any other prerequisites.
