Trying to configure WPA-PSK with wpa_supplicant but failing

I've tried several tutorials found on wikis and forums, but either they don't make sense to me or I get total gibberish in return after entering any commands. Guess I'm too much of a noob.

Any help?
Or suggestions for things other than wpa_supplicant?

See if 'wicd' makes more sense for you. It uses wpa_supplicant, but mostly masks all the internals.

What's your kernel?

I have some weirdo issue with recent kernel. I have 2.6.30.5 and all is well, wifi works
But on 2.6.33.2 (which I want) it barfs.

Show us your gibberish as you go online. We might make something of it :-).
