Trouble installing netgear WAG511 with madwifi

Hello all,

I was trying to install the netgear WAG 511 dual band PCMCIA cardbus card on my dell inspiron 4150. I've successfully compiled the madwifi driver. But when I tried to do "modprobe ath_pci", my computer frozen, and I had to turn off the power and restart the computer again. This happened with the stock kernel from FC1 and so the 2.4.27 kernel from kernel.org. I tried with RH9 and same thing happened. The weird thing is that the same card installed flawlessly on my sony vaio. So can anyone give me some hint on why it freezes on my dell? Thanks.

Thanks for the help.
I followed the instructions but the problem still presists.
I am wondering if trying other distributions (debian etc) helps?

You might want to try one of the debian live CDs. I think Knoppix has support for madwifi. Check their forum before you download it.
