Trouble getting Microsoft wireless card (MN-520) to work
I recently loaded Linux (Fedora Core 2) as a second OS on my laptop. (The first OS is Windows 2000). My Microsoft MN-520 wireless notebook adapter works when I boot Win 2k, but does not work under Fedora. I know Fedora is able to reach the web; my web browser works when I plug directly into my wireless base station (Microsoft MN-500).
I have tried to set up the card using the Systems Settings -> Network-> Network Configuration. When I try to activate the device, the system-config-network dialog box gives the message: Dterining IP information for eth1...failed I suspect the problem may be in the way I configured the wireless card. Any suggestions for getting the card to work would be appreciated. Thanks John |
There is a thread on installing that card here . Check out the last post for a step-by-step. If you search on MN-520 here, you get a few threads that may be of help as well.

I thank Hangdog42 for the suggestion to look at the thread
Mn-520 PCMCIA Card. I neglected to say that I had reviewed the thread before I posted my question. The thread suggested that the card could be made to work by modifying /etc/pcmcia/config Of note, when I opened /etc/pcmcia/config, there was already an entry for a MN-520 card. This leads me to believe that my problem is other than that mentoined in the thread. Needless to say, my card still does not work. Hepl! Thanks John |
OK, well, lets see what does work... Do ifconfig, iwconfig or lspci see the card?
