Thinkpad R51 Wireless Success Suse 9.1

Just managed to get the built-in Centrino iwp2100 wireless card working on my IBM Thinkpad R51 running Suse 9.1 Personal.

I first installed Suse 9.1 Personal (dual boots with XP) and the wireless card was not properly installed. It picked it up, but could not detect the MAC address of the card.

I then ran the On-line update within Yast2, and was presented with the opportunity to download the drivers and firmware for the iwp2100 card (not bundled with the distro, due to copyright or something). Did this, and the card now works OK.

One other thing I had to do in order to get name resolution to work was to enable 'Request Broadcast Response' in the advanced DHCP options. Until I did this, it wasn't picking up my DNS server automatically (which in my case is the ADSL router).

:)

That was useful information. I was struggling with this for the past 6 months.
