Suse 9.1 switching between wired/wireless problem

Question. First, I will say that I am using SuSE Linux 9.1 Personal, I am a newbie and I am running blackbox as a windowmanager because KDE is too bulky for my old laptop here.
My cards are Lucent Technologies Orinoco Wireless B card and Linksys Ethernet 10/100 Card. Both are PCMCIA and I only have one PCMCIA slot on my laptop.

I have a conflict using a wired connection after configuring my wireless connection. My wireless works fine but my wired no longer does. And it obviously did before because I did a FTP install. So I have located the problem to the booting. Ever since I loaded the wireless-tools and got wireless to work, it always loads orinoco_cs. Now if I have the wireless to load on startup and have the wired plugged in, I will not be assigned an IP from the DHCP. Instead, I get the "backlogging" message for IP, i'm assuming telling me they'll assign it to me later. Then I go to surf the net using the wired connection and it will not connect. It recognizes the card is there (since it hangs while resolving host on my browser) but it just won't connect. Now if I have the wireless to load when hotplugged, I WILL be assigned an IP at startup from the DHCP but the internet still doesn't work, and worse, it temporarily cuts my router off the net too. I am not pulling cards in and out, I am always rebooting when i want to switch and sticking them in prior to booting.

My home network is complicated too. I have a DLink router connected to my cable modem and a Linksys Wireless B Router connected to the DLink router. This doesn't cause any problems on Windows, but maybe it does on Linux??

Thanks,
Lawrence

YaST2 setup of network cards is a bit fiddly.
Somewhere on one of the screens is a onboot/hotplug option.
For PCMCIA/Cardbus cards set this to hotplug
(SuSE9.1 does a scan on boot and then calls the hotplug code so net effect is ok.)
I would be tempted to leave both interfaces configured as HotPlug with whatever
DHCP/wireless/etc. options they need.
