SuSE 10OSS Wifi playing tricks on me!

I'm running an acer notebook 3502nlci. 1.4ghz Cel360, 512MB DDR333, Atheros mini PCI wifi card, SIS Lugano Chipset 10/100E, Mirage 2 GFX.
My problem is that during installation DHCP was config'd on wifi (I dont have a wired access to internet at home... dont ask) On the very first boot (before the first reboot) wifi was up and running great at about 36mbps. I'm dual booting XP because of those commercial apps I still cant live without. When I booted back into linux for the second time my wifi (DHCP problem?) card doesn't work and I cant find any wifi config gui utils and I simply have had no experience with wifi commands or tools. I know that the card was detected and working properly. As to why it doesn't work on each subsequent boot is what is confusing me.
please help, ANY insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to LQ!

My guess is that your wifi configurations weren't saved for some reason. When you boot your computer, open a console and run iwconfig. If you can see your card, but it doesn't look like it is configured (ssid is wrong or missing for example) then you can configure it with the iwconfig command (check out man iwconfig for the command details).
