Suse 10.0 x86_64 SMC2802W EU v2

Hi all,

I just bought a new PC and wanted to use the wlan that I had already. However, I don't think this is going to work out after everything that I have read so I thought I would check here as a last resort. (no offense intended)

SuSe 10 Retail x86_64

Ok, my SMC 2802W EU v2 is running the prism duette. The prism54 module doesn't work out of the box, no big deal.

I got the cabled nic working and downloaded the isl3890 firmware for the prism54 cards through YOU Updates. No luck, still won't initialize the card.

Decided to go with ndiswrapper because that worked out ok on Suse 9.3 32bit but only with WEP. no big deal

I install the ndiswrapper and km_ndiswrapper modules that come with Suse 10. no luck Every time I try to load the module, I get a message that the module can't be found. no big deal

I coredump the distro ndis with rpm -e and I go to the ndiswrapper web site and get the latest and greatest, I believe 1.5. I compile and install. no big deal, the module loads cleanly

Next, try to configure the card. definitely no luck
There are no 64bit drivers for the 2802 as far as I can tell. PLEASE! If there are 64bit drivers for my card let me know where to find them!

I hunted through prism54.org, linuxant, ndiswrapper.sourceforge, all manner of forums, usenet, etc...etc... no luck

Does anyone know FOR CERTAIN if there are 64bit drivers somewhere to be had for my card?

Does anyone know FOR CERTAIN if my card will or will not work?

If this card will not play nicely with Suse 10 x86_64, could someone recommend a wlan card that will? I've seen some positive postings about the ralink cards, because they do provide solid 64bit drivers, but so far have not found one here in Germany.

I have no problems with going the ndis route if necessary. So even a card with Windows 64bit drivers would be Ok with ndis I assume.

Not to be rude, but please don't answer with "it should work with ....". I've tried all that already. Thanks.

Sie koennen ruehig auch auf Deutsch antworten!

Thanks in advance!
