SSH - FC3 - BELKIN wireless router

HI everyone

I do require some help here.

I am running FC3. With a Belkin Wireless router. Now, I have installed ssh and want to get it working so that I can remotely log into my machine using ssh. At the moment I am having the following problems.

The IP address of my local machine is a 192 number. I am able to ssh to that number. I can ping my actual IP address. Hoever I am unable to ssh from another machine to my computer. I always get the message that the connection was refused. Even if I set up virtual servers on the Belkin router and sign the ssh service as a trusted service.

How can I go about troubleshooting this and getting my ssh connection working.

Any ideas?

Welcome to LQ.

Is your other computer on the same lan as the fedora box?

Do you have a firewall in place:
iptables -nL

If your FC3 machine has IP/Netmask= 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0

then the other computer from which you are trying to connect with ssh to your FC3 machine should have IP/Netmask for example
Quote:
192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0
Another Example,
If FC3 IP/Netmask= 192.168.10.1/255.255.0.0

Other machine IP/Netmask CAN BE=192.168.20.20/255.255.0.0

Note: The values in red incdicate that the value can be anything upto max 255
and finally check iptables.
