SMC 2632W Wireless
Hi people.. I'm trying to get my network working under GENTOO... can someone tell me step by step instruction? I'm new to Gentoo, but i used slackware for 1 year... I don't really understand the wireless networking stuff... here's what i tried and have:
emerge the pcmcia-cs, disabled PCMCIA/Card in kernel under general setup, copied net.eth0 to net.eth1, have iface for eth0 and eth1 in /etc/conf.d/net, /lib/modules/2.4.20-gentoo-r6/kernel/drivers/net/ don't have the support for my card... i think i need orinoco_cs driver, i modprobe orinoco_cs and nothing happens, emerge wireless_tools and used iwconfig and says eth1 havn't start, tried to /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start but gimme errors, cant modprobe it or something like that, everytime i boot up, my internet goes down again.. have to redo the route add -net default gw 192.168.1.1 netmask 0.0.0.0 metric 1 eth0 (this is for my build in network card), and i dunno what else to do.
