slackware 10.1 wlan

i am currently trying to setup a wireless lan with my slackware 10.1 installation. i believe everything is setup correctly, all the compatible ndiswrapper drivers installed. i can connect to my network, however i cannot connect to the internet. I can ping other computers on my network, and i can get an ip by typing ifconfig wlan0 up but thats all.
I think this will help

root@TheCupboard:~# ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr: Mask:
RX packets:25 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:25 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:2548 (2.4 Kb) TX bytes:2548 (2.4 Kb)

wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:5B:8F7:39
inet addr: Bcast: Mask:
RX packets:286 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:39 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:40618 (39.6 Kb) TX bytes:8718 (8.5 Kb)
Interrupt:5 Memory:dfbde000-dfbdffff

root@TheCupboard:~# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"TheCupboard"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462GHz Access Point: 00:09:5B:6A:03:02
Bit Rate:54Mb/s Tx-Power:0 dBm Sensitivity=0/3
RTS thr:2347 B Fragment thr:2312 B
Encryption keyff
Power Managementff
Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-51 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I used the slackware netconfig in order to put my network details in, including my dns server, but it just doesnt seem to want to connect.
btw im using the netgear wg311v2, which i think is renowned for being hard to set up on linux.

thanks in advance

It's worthwhile to check out the HCL page for this card:

It looks like v.2 certainly has some issues though
