Slack 9.0 kernel in 9.1

After reading the monster thread about the Realtek 8180 Wifi chipset (and considering the expiration of the linuxant trial period in a few days) i think that at least for now the only way to keep the card running under Slackware 9.1 is to downgrade to an older kernel. I'm currently running a 2.4.24 kernel. Is it possible to simply download a lets say 2.4.21 kernel for slack 9.0 and install it on 9.1, are there incompatibilities with the newer slackware to take care of?

Thanks Wolfgang

No you can downgrad without pb : I have a 9.1 and installed a kernel 2.4.20
After, il you have equipment that cannot be recognized because it is an old kernel, you can apply patch.
