signal levels linux vs. windows

I am running two different wifi cards (both prism 2 chip set) One is built in to my laptop it is Accton wn360 the other one is a SMC2532w-b pcmcia. Both work great in Fedora Core 1-3 and Knoppix 3.6. My question is this: When using the Windows
clients I have 15% More signal strength versus the kwifimanager. As an example I boot up my laptop and see three ssid's (x1-x3) x1 would be 80% Windows and 65% Linux signal strength, x-2 would be 45 % Windows and 30% linux. Now x-3 show up in Windows at 25% and does not show up in linux at all . Is this normal , and can the linux driver be made more sensitive to radio signals. I am able to connect all ssid's in Windows

Thanks in advance for the help

Hi.

The sensitivity is configureable in Linux. Have a look at 'man iwconfig'. There's a section called 'sens' which tells you about this.
