Setup 3com officeconnect 3crshpw796 in mandrake 9.2

Hello.

I've just installed Mandrake 9.2 on my laptop. Everything works fine, except my wireless pcmcia card.(3com officeconnect 3crshpw796)

I've tried to figure out how to install it, but since i'm a first time linux user it's not easy.

I've downloaded several files but i don't know what to do with them.

I've downloaded spectrum24t-1.03a.tar.gz, which is suppose to contain the drivers I need. But where do i untar these files?

I've also downloaded ADM8211, which also is suppose to work with my 3com card.

As I mentioned earlier i'm a newbie.

If some one could help me I would be very thankful.

Sorry for the poor english!

Stian

http://www.espina.info/papers/officeconnect/

I usually create a descriptive directory name under /root such as
/root/drivers/adm8211

The webpage has instructions for unzipping and untarring the driver source.

Pay special attention to the required software section.

Ask if you can't figure something out.

Hello.

I've given up on linux I'm afraid. Tried to install Mandrake 9.2 but it did'nt have any kernel, Then I tried to install Redhat 9, but then my screen flickers.

Think I'll stick to good old Win XP

PS. I have a toshiba satelite 1900

@m2stian: you need the kernel source for mdk 9.2
run "uname -a" to detect your kernel version
then download the source rpm's from a mandrake mirror
e.g.
http://bo.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/Man...1-1mdk.src.rpm
http://bo.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/Man...2-1mdk.src.rpm
