Smile Setting up the wireless connection

This is the Newbie again.
While I was going through setup of Ubuntu I was asked questions about my wireless network.
I thought I answered the questions and that would be the end of it. However when I had to
reload the OS for the MBR to work properly I was never asked those questions again and I
figured that it was all there and it would recognize everything. However, it did NOT.
So my question is, how do I get my network connection working.
I have D-Link AirPlus G Wireless PCI Adapter, MN: DWL-G510. It was in the hardware support list.
And I have a Linksys wireless router and I believe it was on the list as well.
All I need is to understand what the setup wizard is asking for.
Thanks in advance.
So far I have had tremendous support from great people and I am VERY happy with Ubuntu and
only wish I had started sooner.
Thanks again.

I believe the first step would be to see if Ubuntu recognized your wireless NIC is recognized by running the "lspci" command to see if it is listed. If it is run "ifconfig" and see if the interface is up for your wireless (sometimes they are listed as wlan0.. etc) If it is then I believe you are almost there. Now you have to configure the interface itself. Try reading the man pages for iwconfig. This will allow the configuration of your wireless NIC. If you can get the settings to work from the command line then store them in the configuration file that is specific to your wireless NIC. I do not remember where the file is at the moment, but hopefully this helps!
