router unable to determine hostname
router: D-Link DI-541
wireless: D-Link DWL-122
distro: Slackware-current
set up using linux-wlan-ng-0.2.1pre21
recently began setting up sendmail and one of the errors i received was
"gethostbyaddr(192.168.0.101) failed: 1"
so i logged into the router and my hostname was listed as "unknown"...
i did some searches and found pages indicating that dhcp_hostname needs to be set in /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-wlan, however i don't have this file or this directory. i haven't found dhcp_hostname in any of my wlan configuration files either. during setup, "dhcpcd wlan0" was added to my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file manually. after checking man dhcpcd, i tried "killall dhcpcd" then "dhcpcd wlan0 -h [hostname]" afterwhich the router listed the hostname...is this the correct method or is there a config file i need to edit? or have i set up wlan0 incorrectly? or should i forget dhcp?
