Welcome to LQ!

You have two things that you have to have set up. In the VMWare control center you need to have set up a virtual ethernet card that is connected to your real wireless card and you probably want this set to NAT. Once you've got that installed, RedHat should be able to see a virtual ethernet card that you can configure.

Thank you for your reply.

I use NAT option in the Ethenet setting, it cannot connect to the network. Then I select the "Custom:Specific virtual network" option. It still cannot connect to the internet.

It would be much helpful if you could elaborate how to set up a virtual ethernet card and the configuration after that.

Thank you

When you initially installed VMWare, did you specify a real ethernet card to use? If you didn't, or don't remember, you probably want to run vmware-config.pl again to make sure VMWare is connecting the virtual ethernet cards to your real wireless card.

Setting up the virtual ethernet card from the VMWare side is pretty self explanatory. In the VMware control center for that VM, you simply need to add an ethernet card and select what kind of connection (NAT, Bridged, or Host-only). The specific details will depend on what version of VMWare you're using. I'm using VMWare Server 2, so there may be some minor differences with what you've got.

What other options are available? VMWare server doesn't have that.

Once you've created the card, everything else will be done in the RedHat VM. Go to System > Administration > Network. In the GUI that comes up, there should be an ethernet card available. Select it and then click on Edit and set the card up for things like DHCP and any other setting specific to your network. You need to make sure that it is active.

If you don't have a card in the Devices tab, go to the Hardware tab and see if there is one there. If there is, click on New and set up the card.

Once your done, you may have to get into a console and run service network restart to get the changes to take.
