Realtek 8180(?) WiFi card not working
I bought Edimax 7106PC WiFi adaptor.

Edimax does not have offical drivers for this device.

It probably has Realtek 8180 chip, however I was not ablxe to install it from downloaded drivers.... Can some1 point me to the compiled RPM or compile it for me? :)

Moved: This thread is more suitable in Wireless Networking and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

You can probably confirm the chipset by running "lspci".

If you are unsure then post the output from:
lspci -v

You can dowload the latest drivers (kernel) from:

I haven't seen any rpms, why don't the offical realtek ones work?

that link is for slackware, not sure it will work for mandrake though.

Try using ndiswrapper. Comes with any official version or if you dont have it Id be happy to point you to the way. Then grab your windows drivers and stick them in your home dir. Type in ndiswrapper -i whatever.inf . Then go into your /sbin/ and type in modprobe ndiswrapper . Then go into /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper -m . That will set up your card as a device then run the net config and you should be all set. If you use mandrake update you maybe have to repeart the process but its pretty simple. Oh also if you do have to repeat the process youll have to first issue the command ndiswrapper -l . That will tell you what it named the driver file. Then type in ndiswrapper -e whatever.inf .Then repeat the steps above. It works great for me. Hell the windows driver works better in linux than windows. In windows I constantly have to keep clicking repair connection. In linux its strong the whole time.
Good luck!

Uh, pennywisefan, while your effort to help is appreciated, posting exactly the same thing to a bunch of threads isn't helping, its spamming. If you want to help, great, please contribute, but if this is the best you can do, please knock it off.
