Realistic, line-of-sight, range?

Hey...

What is the maximum realistic range I should expect from my PCMCIA Cisco Aironet 350 card connecting to an on-board wireless card (sorry, I don't know the brand... it's in my IBM T41 laptop)?

I happen to live on the 18th floor of my condo with line-of-sight from my window to the pool... see where I'm going with this? I want to be able to work by the pools side. What are the chances? hmmm.....

18 floors is approximatley 180 feet, so the distance doesn't seem to tough. What about the direction? I am not sure if it works equally well in all directions. Test it and let us know if it works please.
