Quick Question: Which driver file to use for Dell TrueMobile 1350 Wireless card?

Hi there.

I am working on getting my wireless card to work in my laptop under Linux. I am currently using Ubuntu. I have the Dell Internel TrueMobile 1350 b/g wireless card and know that I have to use ndiswrapper to get it to work. However, I am unsure of one thing: which driver file do I use? I downloaded the lastest drivers from Dell and when I unziped it, the folder contained both the bcmwl5.ini and the bcmwl5a.inf. I do plan on setting up WPA, if that matters in picking which file.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The .inf version is the win98 version (I think) - use that one.

The bcmwl5a is the newer of the two drivers. I'd try that first and then use bcmwl5 if the 5a doesn't work. Be sure that both the .inf and .sys files are in the same directory when you run ndiswrapper -i, as the .sys file has the actual drivers.

And just so you are aware, there is a native linux driver project for Broadcom chipsets like yours. I've given it a go and it currently is of limited use (no WEP or WPA support as far as I can tell).

Thanks for the info.

I'll have to check out the broadcom driver. Thanks for letting me know.
