problems accessing internet with WPA_PSK

My operating system is suse 9.2 pro. For the past few weeks since I installed suse I have had a problem with obtaining a dhcp lease from my router. It would evdentually obtain the lease after a time anywhere between 5 -30 minutes maybe longer. So I would never turn off my computer. I have tried resetting the router and the cable modem, neither one worked. I was using a 128 bit WEP encryption. So now I went to the WPA_PSK encryption and I have more of a problem getting a IP address from my router. I can't get an IP address at all. I used Yast to configure my network settings. Also my wlan card is set as the external device in my firewall.

If anyone can give me any ideas on getting my network card to work let me know.


Network card : Netgear WG311T (108 Super G )
Driver : Madwifi driver

Well I somehow got my network card to start at boot time. However I now have a small problem. I looked at my router configuration and it seems that two computers on my network have the same IP address. One of the computers is my linux machine, also the host name is also the same in my router configuration. However there are two different mac addresses assigned to the same IP. Does this souund right?

if anyone has an idea on hoow to fix this let me know

P.S. IP addresses are assigned by DHCP

Some routers let you assign IPs by MAC address. Most use the MAC addy to assign the same one after reboots. With older consumer-grade routers, the only way I found to clear that stuff out was to power off everything, bring up the router and then each dhcp client device in order.
