problem with Z-COM XI-325 PCMCIA wifi card in DSL 3.3 linux

hi i just managed to install DSL 3.3 from a livecd. Im running it on an old thinkpad 380D with 32mb ram and a 150mhz mmx pentium but thats not the issue because this distro runs great even on such a piece of hardware. But the thing is to get a Z-COM XI-325 pcmcia wifi card working. I havent accomplished this task yet. The card has a prism 2.5 chipset so it shouldnt be the problem.

at boot cardmgr detects the card but prints "unsupported card in slot 1" message,
so i did "modprobe hostap_cs" to load driver module and lsmod confirmed its loaded,
but when i try to bring up wlan0 with "ifconfig wlan0 up"
i get "SIOCGIFFLAGS: no such device".
And thats where im stuck.

Im really out of ideas and i browsed and googled all the day with no succes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
