problem installing ma111 USB on fedora 3: wlan0: unknown interface: No such device

I'm having some problems getting netgear's MA111 USB wifi device to load and configure correctly on my linux laptop. I have successfully compiled linux-wlan-ng-0.2.1pre23 as well as the 2.6.9 kernel.

I followed the directions in the tutorial (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...icle&artid=239) to the letter. I've also looked around google and on LQ and have only seen the same problem with no clear resolution.

I've added the line "alias wlan0 prism2_usb" to my /etc/modprobe.conf

Code:
:sohmc@frink:/usr/src# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 009: ID 0846:4230 NetGear, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
sohmc@frink:/usr/src# tail -f /var/log/messages
Jan 8 08:33:28 frink kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 8
Jan 8 08:33:29 frink kernel: usb 1-1: device not accepting address 8, error -71
Jan 8 08:33:29 frink kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 9
Jan 8 08:35:27 frink kernel: prism2usb_init: prism2_usb.o: 0.2.1-pre23 Loaded
Jan 8 08:35:27 frink kernel: prism2usb_init: dev_info is: prism2_usb
Jan 8 08:35:27 frink kernel: usbcore: registered new driver prism2_usb
sohmc@frink:/usr/src# wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable
wlanctl-ng: No such device
sohmc@frink:/usr/src# /etc/init.d/wlan restart
Shutting Down WLAN Devices: Shutting Down WLAN Devices: wlanctl-ng: No such device
wlan0: unknown interface: No such device
I figure that somewhere, I have forgotten a step. I cannot figure out how to configure the wlan0 device. Obviously, it's not being aliased correctly to the driver. Can anyone offer some thoughts on how to get it configured?

thanks!

I am having a similar problem as you. I am using a Netgear MA111 (version 1) and linux-wlan-ng.
I followed the README but my computer does not seem to see the device.

I installed linux-wlan-ng on a fresh full installation of Fedora Core 3.

Perhaps we can share our research?

Thanks
