pcmcia problems

I am running Linux AS 2.1 on Thinkpad R40.

It hangs at shutdown/reboot with Stopping pcmcia: unloading Kernel Card Services message. I understand it's having a problem with the wireless card.

What could be the reason for this, a driver?
