pci wireless card not recognized
 

Hello all,
My problem is I have a Dell Truemobile 1150 silver wireless card that is plugged into a Texas Instruments PCI adaptor that I cannot get recognized in Xandros, Ubuntu, Fedora Core1-2-3, or any other distribution of linux. I know that these cards are supported because I once had it working in Mandrake 8.2 a couple years ago. Since then though I have had absolutely no luck duplicating that experience. I want to move back to linux but this issue is stopping me.
I feel confident that this is a configuration issue but I don't know how to begin. Presently I have Xandros 3.0 and the latest version of Ubuntu installed and running without much trouble. If you have any advice please be specific as to commands etc. as I'm not very versed in all the technical jargon.
So far ifconfig shows eth0 (my internet connection) but not the wireless card which should be eth1 and iwconfig says "no wireless extentions". Entering dmesg I get "cs: unable to map card memory". If more info is needed please ask. Also, I don't know if this matters but this is a pc I built myself and everything is working in winxp.

Looks like your card uses the orinoco module, so try lsmod and see if its loaded. If not then modprobe it and hopefully it'll work. Am surprised that ubuntu didnt detect it. The card works in windows? Just making sure its not hardware related.

lsmod didn't show the orinoco module but after doing a modprobe for it the module shows up but still no eth1 with ifconfig and iwconfig says no wireless extentions. Below shows what I consider to be the problem in dmesg:

Right after the modprobe I restarted pcmcia services and this is what came back:
mypc:~# /etc/init.d/pcmcia restart

So I'm not sure how to proceed from here. Could ACPI have something to so with this?? All this is happening in Xandros 3.0 - the free version. I gonna try it in Ubuntu and see what happens. Oh, and yes the card works in WinXP

I Tried the same in Ubuntu and the result was pretty much the same. Although in Ubuntu I at least get the two different beeps when restarting pcmcia.
