orinoco wireless problems fedora
fedora core...seems like my orinoco wireless pcmcia card is being detected... but it fails to bring the network up at boot time.. how do i resolve this? when i go to network configuration... and try to active eth1 (the one that is my wireless card) it says "cannot activate network device eth1! orinoco_cs device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
model number is pc24e-h-fc!

What does the model number you list belong to?
What's the output of lsmod, iwconfig and ifconfig?

I have the same problem on Fedora Core 2 final.
lsmod output includes orinoco, which depends on orinoco_cs
iwconfig says 'no wireless connections' for each of l0, sit0, and eth0, but that may be the problem - my card is eth1 (not listed)
ifconfig just shows l0, not eth0 or eth1
If I try to 'activate' eth1 using the system-config-network gui thing, I get the same error as above.
Cheers,
Eliot.

I have the same problem here.
Was formerly running FC1 with a 2.6 kernel and wireless worked fine. Installed FC2 and it detected my card during installation. The modules are all loaded, but i get the same "orinoco_cs device eth1 does not seem to be present" error.
grr.

Update: 1 or 2 reboots later everything fell into place. Go figure.

I have this same issue as well. My wireless was detected on install and all was well, but now I boot up and the PCMCIA card is not acitve (green lights are not on) and of course I can not start the interface either.
Anyone have any ideas on this one?
Thanks.
